2012 Legislative Law Changes

Many of the laws passed during the Oregon 2011 Legislative Session come into effect on January 1, 2012. Thankfully the impact on landlords was not as severe as the law changes endured in 2010. The MMHA legislative team was once again hard at work in Salem assuring the interests of our industry were represented and defended. Supporting Fair Housing for All

Housing discrimination is unacceptable whenever it occurs. Landlords have a legal and moral obligation to offer the same opportunities and use the same policies for everyone. When fair housing laws are broken, violators should be held accountable. At the same time, Fair Housing education has never been more important to keep community awareness high and landlords operating legally.
